💃 Countdown to Prom: Your Weekly To-Do List

Hi Friends! Below is a simple list of tasks to help you prepare for prom this year- because showing up stressed is NOT the vibe for 2026. Trust Us!

Let’s be honest, prom is basically the Super Bowl of high school social life—so yeah, a little planning goes a long way. Instead of panic-buying shoes the night before or trying a new skincare routine 2 days out (pls don’t 😅), here’s your week-by-week game plan so you show up confident, glowing, and totally unbothered.

🌟 5-8 Weeks Before Prom: Lock It In

This is your “main character energy” planning week.

To-Do List:

  • 👗 Shop for your perfect dress at XO by Sophia's, then once you have picked out your dress, you will be able to get your dates tux ordered there as well!

  • 🛍️ If alterations are needed, take those in ASAP! The seamstress can get backed up between prom & spring weddings.

  • 👠 Start looking for the perfect shoes + matching accessories

  • 💇♀️ Decide on the best look for your hair (sleek bun? curls? pony?) & get your hair appointment booked with your favorite stylist! Maybe get a trim scheduled for between now and then so that your ends are perfection! Healthy hair is always in style!

  • 📸 Start a Pinterest board for vibe and photo inspo

  • Book your spray tan and nail appointment!

Prom-Pro Tip: If you’re between sizes on your dress, size up—you can always tailor it in to make it fit perfectly, you cannot add fabric to a smaller dress to make it fit.

💅 4 Weeks Before Prom: Beauty Game Plan

Time to figure out your glow-up strategy.

To-Do List:

  • 💄 Do a makeup trial and clean your brushes (especially if DIY) More fun if you invite your besties over and everyone can play around with their style!

  • 💇♀️ Practice your hairstyle, again if DIY. Or get a folder set up of styles that you want your stylist to do!

  • Order flowers! You want to make sure the floral shop has plenty of time to get everyones orders in and ready!

  • 💅 Pick your nail design and shop for the perfect color to match your dress!

  • 🧴 Start a simple skincare routine (cleanser + moisturizer + SPF) PLUS HYDRATION!! Hydrated skin is always key!

Important: Don’t try anything crazy or new—this is not the time for “experimental acids” or trends.

✨ 3 Weeks Before Prom: Try Everything Together

This is your “does this actually work?” week.

To-Do List:

  • ✂️ Confirm alterations are done and pick up your dress!

  • 👗 Try on your FULL outfit (yes, everything). Also, practice sitting down and getting up! You DO  NOT want a wardrobe malfunction!

  • 🚶♀️ Walk in your shoes (break them in!!) Put them on with the dress and make sure your hem is perfect! Maybe walk up and down the stairs a bit just to make sure you won't fall, especially if you are not used to wearing a long dress and heels.

  • 💎 Finalize jewelry + bag. BONUS: Make sure the things you want to take with you for the evening fit in your bag! Phone, money + ID, lip gloss & compact mirror to name a few things.

Reality Check: If something feels off now, it’ll feel worse on prom night, trust us —fix it early while you are not stressing for time!

🌸 2 Weeks Before Prom: Skin + Self-Care Reset

Glow from the inside out era ✨

To-Do List:

  • 💧 Drink more water (your skin WILL notice) Get your emotional support water bottle and fill the baby up to the top!

  • 🧼 Stick to a consistent skincare routine and make sure you are getting all your makeup off before bed! You do not want any blemishes over the next two weeks!

  • 💤 Get good sleep (dark circles are real) Phone off 30 minutes before bed! Pick up a book and have you some me-time before falling asleep! Your mind and body will thank you!

  • 🪒 Plan shaving/waxing timing (not last minute!) No one likes razor burn!

Avoid: Trying new products that could break you out.

💖 1 Week Before Prom: Final Touches

We’re getting CLOSE to the big night!

To-Do List:

  • 💅 Get your nails + toes done! I suggest this on Wednesday or Thursday so you are not rushing for time on the day or having to wait the day before with everyone else!

  • ☀️ If tanning, do it EARLY (and subtly!!) Or go get your spray tan 24 to 36 hours out!

  • 👜 Pack your clutch:

    • Lip gloss, Blotting papers, Money + ID, Mini perfume, Phone + Charger

  • 📍 Confirm plans (dinner reservations, rides, photo locations) with your friends and make sure your parents know of the details.

  • Make sure your date knows to pick up their tux and any flowers that are needed!

Pro Tip: Screenshot everything—addresses, reservations, timelines.

🎉 Prom Week: It’s Happening!!

The vibes = excitement + organized chaos (because you prepped and you planned!)

To-Do List:

  • 👗 Steam/iron your dress! Then keep it hung up so that you are not having to do this again! Double check that you shoes are comfy and ready to rock!

  • 💇♀️ Wash hair according to your hairstyle plan! Try not to use a whole bunch of products, aim for going to the stylist with natural hair.

  • 🛏️ Get GOOD sleep the night before + hydrate! (I will repeat this step until I am blue in the face!)

  • 📸 Plan your photo poses (candid + classic)

Day Of Checklist:

  • Eat a real meal (hanger is NOT cute) A good breakfast & lunch is always key! Plus a snack bar or two in your clutch can’t hurt! You may need to share with someone, you never know!

  • Give yourself extra time for everything throughout the 2-3 days before. Something always happens and you want to make sure you have time to process and solve any issues that may arise.

  • Put on deodorant… seriously 😅

💫 Final Reminder

Prom isn’t about having the perfect dress or the perfect pictures—it’s about the memories, the laughs, and the “OMG we’re really here” moments with your friends. These are just a few nights during your life, but they are memorable and meant to be enjoyed, so sit back and take it all in!

So take all the photos, dance way too much, and don’t stress about the little things!

You’re going to look amazing. Period.
